Join this lunchtime panel discussion which will feature a diverse group of forest users representing a forest constituency dependent on a healthy forest for various uses including cultural traditions, water recreation, fishing, conservation research, forest management and commercial endeavors.

A facilitated panel discussion with select Cabinet members will follow the Governor’s keynote address. Jan TenBruggencate will moderate this panel which will discuss the Abercrombie administration’s vision to build a sustainable, resilient and secure future for Hawai‘i.

Conservation through Art Exhibit and conference exhibits open for public viewing

Susan Middleton, Photographer, Author, Conservationist, will present “Art, Science, and Biodiversity”. For more than 25 years, Susan Middleton’s photographs have explored the intersection of art, science, and biodiversity. In this presentation, she creates a portrait of life through images taken from 1985 through the present, with a special emphasis on Hawaii.

Free Public Presentation
Director, filmmaker and musician Eddie Kamae and producer Myrna Kamae present Listen to The Forest (56 minutes), an award-winning documentary about mālama ‘āina (taking care of the land.) Free popcorn, Big Island Candies shortbread cookies, and iced tea will be provided.
