Moana “Ulu” Ching joined the Hawaiʻi Conservation Alliance Foundation as the Executive Director in July of 2025 and is based in Hilo, Hawaiʻi. Many know Ulu through her work over the last nine years as Senior Program Manager for Community-Based Conservation with Conservation International Hawaiʻi, where she led their statewide community-based conservation efforts. Prior to that she previously co-led the Pacific Internship Programs for Exploring Science (PIPES), and is very active in numerous non-profit organizations and existing conservation collaborations. Ulu obtained her bachelor’s degree in Geography & Environmental Studies at UH Hilo and completed her graduate work in ecological education at Lesley University in Massachusetts. The Hawaiʻi Conservation Alliance & Foundation are excited about the wealth of her knowledge that spans place-based stewardship, education, and team leadership that she will bring to the Alliance & Foundation.
