Volunteer Judges
Aloha Volunteer Judges!
Thank you for indicating that you would like to be a Volunteer Judge for student oral, speed talk, and poster presentations at the 2022 Hawai‘i Conservation Conference (HCC)! The awards are based on the scoring by volunteer judges attending HCC. Many of you have helped in the past, and for this, we are most appreciative. We very much appreciate your willingness to volunteer this year to encourage and recognize our young emerging leaders. We thank you ahead of time for making the 2022 student awards a success!
Where is the list of the Student Presentations that I can judge?

- MS Teams Sheet: Student Presentations for Judges to Sign Up For_HCC2022.
-
If you need to be added as a Volunteer Judge and to access the above sheet, please email capacity@hawaiiconservation.org.
-
- In the MS Teams Sheet you will find a list of all the student presentations, separated into “Oral”, “Speed Talk”, and “Poster” tabs.
- The precise time, day, session number, session time, session name, presentation abstract number, presentation title, and presenter name are listed for each student presentation. Please make sure to visit the Conference Agenda on the Conference Platform (Oxford Abstracts) at https://virtual.oxfordabstracts.com/#/event/public/2649/program prior to the start of the Conference (Mon. July 18th) to make sure you “Bookmark” the presentations you’ll be judging by clicking the ribbon symbol. Those presentations will show up under the filter “Your bookmarks” in the Agenda for easy access.
- Please note that this year, Poster Presentations can be viewed before and during Conference in the Oxford Abstracts Poster Gallery https://virtual.
oxfordabstracts.com/#/event/ 2649/poster-gallery/grid. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED you view the poster and associated video prior to the Poster Session, as the presenters will only be answering questions (not giving a full talk). You will find a PDF of their poster as well as a 2 minute video recording briefly discussing their poster. There will be a Poster Session on Thursday July 21st 12:30 – 1:30 PM where you can talk with Poster Presenters and ask them questions. The Poster Session will be broken into 15min pieces to allow folks to rotate through the different poster presenters.
How many Student Presentations should I sign up for?
- Please look over Student Presentations for Judges to Sign Up For_HCC2022 and choose at least 3 oral, 2 speed talk, and 2 poster presentations that you will commit to judging. We also encourage you to do more if you have the capacity. This helps ensure that we get enough scoresheets for all student presenters. Please note that the goal is to have 3 Volunteer Judges for every Student Presentation. If you see presentations that have 0 or 1 Volunteer Judge please sign up for those presentations.
How do I sign up for Student Presentations?
- In the MS Teams Sheet, Student Presentations for Judges to Sign Up For_HCC2022, place your initials in the cell corresponding to your name AND the presentation that you commit to judge (see Google Sheet for example [column labelled “Example”]). Volunteer Judges are listed in alphabetical order via first name in the top row.
