Volunteer Judges for Student Presentations

Aloha Volunteer Judges!

Thank you for indicating that you would like to be a Volunteer Judge for student oral and speed talk presentations at the 2020 Hawai‘i Conservation Conference (HCC)! The awards are based on the scoring by volunteer judges attending HCC. Many of you have helped in the past, and for this, we are most appreciative. We very much appreciate your willingness to volunteer this year to encourage and recognize our young emerging leaders. We thank you ahead of time for making the 2020 student awards a success!

Where is the list of the Student Presentations that I can judge?

Student Presentations for Judges to Sign Up For_HCC2020
  • Google Sheet: Student Presentations for Judges to Sign Up For_HCC2020. Please note that you will only have access to the Google Sheet if you were already reached out to (via email) about being a Volunteer Judge.
    • If you donʻt receive access right away or need to access through a different email address, please send me a “Request for Access”
  • In the below Google Sheet you will find a list of all the student presentations, separated into a “Oral” tab and a “Speed Talk” tab.
    • Please note that the precise time of the presentations are not listed because HCC staff are frequently updating the schedule as we approach Conference. However the day, session number, session time, and session name, presentation abstract number, presentation title, and presenter name will remain the same and are provided in the Google Sheet. Please make sure to check the Conference Schedule on the night of Monday August 31st to make sure you have the most up to date timing of the presentations you will be judging.

How many Student Presentations should I sign up for?

  • Please look over Student Presentations for Judges to Sign Up For_HCC2020 and choose at least 3 oral and 2 speed talk presentations that you will commit to judging. If you would like to judge more than that, we highly encourage you to do so if you feel so inclined. Please note that the goal is to have 3 Volunteer Judges for every Student Presentation. If you see presentations that have 0 or 1 Volunteer Judge please sign up for those presentations.

How do I sign up for Student Presentations?

  • In the Google Sheet, Student Presentations for Judges to Sign Up For_HCC2020, place your initials in the cell corresponding to your name and the presentation that you commit to judge (see Google Sheet for example [column labelled “Example”]).
    • *If you work for an agency that does not allow you to access Google Sheets, please be sure to email me (capacity@hawaiiconservation.org) ASAP (no later than 5 PM Monday August 31st) with the presentations you would like to judge so that I can add them to the Google Sheet for you.*
