Moderator Information

Thanks for volunteering to help serve as a moderator for the 2020 Hawaiʻi Conservation Conference!

Your main job as moderator would be to:

  • Reach out to the presenter in your session (we have emailed all the general session presenters/moderators so you have each others email addresses) and request copies of their presentation if they havenʻt pre-recorded their presentation
    • In the event that a presenters internet crashes, moderators can advance the slides for the presenter and serve as a digital backup for their slides, and the presenters can call in.
  • Introduce the speakers (title and name, presenters will introduce themselves in more depth if interested)
  • Keep the session going on-time
  • Moderate the Q&A and any discussions that may come up
  • Attend a BigMarker Onboarding Session (10-15 minute on 8/26 between 11-1pm) to familiarize yourself with the platform and functions.
  • Watch the presenter onboarding video: https://www.bigmarker.com/jordan-nation/Presenter-Onboarding/ and familiarize yourself with the conference platform

You will receive your moderator/admin link for the session you are moderating from BigMarker this week, which you will use to access your session during the conference.

Practice Rooms Now Available
We have four practice rooms available for you to test out the platform. One has a breakout room function enabled for forums/workshops who are utilizing breakout rooms and the other room is a general presenter room. The rooms are open daily (Thursday, 8/27-Sunday, 8/30) from 10am-6pm for all presenters and moderators to use.

General Presenter Room (no breakout groups):

Forum/Workshop Room (with breakout rooms enabled):
If there is another group using the room, please exit the room and try a different one, or try to access the room again later.
Please note, due to limited staff capacity no HCA/F or BigMarker staff will be present in the room. If you have questions about the functions of the platform please refer to the presenter/moderator guidelines documents first before emailing conference@hawaiiconservation.org your questions.
